Nearly a year has passed since our last update, and we are pleased to report significant progress as we approach the completion of Phase One. Thank you for your continued support throughout this productive year.
As of the end of summer 2024, all properties in Phase One have been constructed to shell and are now sealed from the elements. Attention has shifted to the communal groundwork and drainage systems, with essential work being carried out on the stagnant pond and attenuation tanks to effectively manage surface water during the winter months. In addition, crews are actively fitting out kitchens and bathrooms within the homes. We are thrilled to officially announce the name of the estate, The Sherwoods, as recognised by local authorities. This estate will feature 15 houses, each named after native trees found in our ancient woodland.
While the closure of Dagwood Lane during construction was understandably frustrating, the introduction of new passing places has proven to be a valuable enhancement to the road. These passing places not only improve road safety but also provide several key benefits. They allow drivers to pull over and let oncoming traffic pass, which effectively reduces vehicle speeds and minimises the risk of accidents. Additionally, these passing areas eliminate the need for drivers to reverse in potentially hazardous situations, thereby improving overall traffic flow and making the lane more user-friendly for all.
At Pertan Dagwood, we prioritise corporate social responsibility and social value. That is why we have incorporated them into our policies. As a way of giving back to the communities, we actively engage with them. To demonstrate our commitment, we have established a donation program to support the local food bank at Doddinghurst Road Community Church. Every month, we provide food packages to help our community navigate difficult times. By supporting initiatives like this, we aim to make a positive impact and promote a sense of togetherness within our community.
To ensure the surrounding area outside development sites remain clean, it is a standard requirement for major developments to utilize on-site wheel washers, which effectively prevent debris from negatively affecting the environment. In addition to meeting this condition, Pertan Dagwood have gone above and beyond by voluntarily implementing an extra measure. We have employed road sweeper vehicles to clean the entire length of Dagwood Lane twice a week. This proactive approach ensures a cleaner and more pleasant environment for all residents.
After identifying the contaminated areas, a dedicated team was deployed to excavate, remove, and properly dispose of the contaminated land. Testing was conducted continuously during the excavation process until negative results were obtained. On-site separation of the remaining landfill allowed for the reuse of hardcore and clean topsoil, resulting in fewer heavy vehicle movements. This approach not only addressed the contamination issue but also proved to be more environmentally friendly
